Bolt-together Models 01/02
Our bolt-together Models 01AA and 02AA are designed for the following applications:
- Industrial egress stairs
- Industrial equipment and mezzanine access stairs
- Industrial secondary access stairs
Model 01AA is for stairs up to 12 feet, and Model 02AA is for stairs between 12 feet and 20 feet.
Consult this table for more information on applications.
Advantages of Bolt-together Stair Systems
Our bolt-together systems are the simplest and most cost-effective stair solutions available.
- Because the engineering and design capabilities are built into our computer system, we can provide you with pricing and project drawings within minutes over the phone.
- Bolt-together stairs can be shipped completely unassembled, greatly reducing shipping costs compared to welded stair systems.
- Bolt-together stairs require no welding or expensive installation equipment and can be assembled within compact spaces.
Rail Options
All BOCA compliant stairs include the BOCA rail design. The OSHA compliant stair includes the OSHA railing design; however, you may choose the BOCA railing and still meet OSHA requirements. If you are using your own wall rail system, you have the
option of purchasing the stair without one or both rails. The BOCA rail design is
also used on all NFPA, SBCCI, and UBC Industrial stairs.
- Top and bottom extensions on rail meet BOCA requirements.
- Flexible baluster spacing, custom designed to meet the code you request. Adjustable
within the confines of the building code.
- Rail and baluster ends press punched.
- Rails capable of withstanding a 200 pound load applied in any direction.
- Rail and balusters constructed from 1-1/2" OD tube.
- Balusters attach to stringers using provided bolts and spacers.

Tread Options
The diamond plate tread provides a solid tread surface with raised diamonds for
a non-skid effect. We manufacture these treads in our facility and are able to
accommodate custom width requests.

If your application requires concrete treads, you may select concrete pan treads manufactured here in our facility. We use the underside of the diamond tread plate to create the pan, with the diamond plate wrapped around the front edge to create a diamond tread plate nosing. The pan treads are available in the same widths as our other treads, or you may choose a custom width. The pans are provided ready to install and ready for your site poured concrete.

*Building Codes
Stair Model 01AA is designed around the following building codes. Stair Model 02AA
only complies with OSHA, as it exceeds the maximum stair height of 12’ under the
building codes.
- OSHA
- BOCA
- NFPA Industrial
- SBCCI Industrial
- UBC Industrial
Assembly Options
- Unassembled: We recommend unassembled. The stair is very simple to assemble
and install. This is the most economical option, saving both on shipping costs and the stair purchase price. All assembly hardware is provided.
- Tread/Stringer Assembly: We will attach the treads to the stringers for
you and ship the rails ready to install. You simply add the rails into the stringers
and bolt them in place before installing the stair. All assembly hardware is provided.
- Unassembled: We will attach the balusters and stair rail to the stringers
for you and ship the treads separately. You add the treads to the stringer before
installing. All assembly hardware is provided.
Back-Pan
Optional. Most stairs are equipped with cross bracing connecting the two
stringers behind the treads. You may choose to replace the standard cross bracing
with a set of catch-pans that will prevent any object or dirt from falling to the
ground below.
